It was first launched on 7 August 2000 by Scott Jarkoff, Matthew Stephens, Angelo Sotira and others. The headquarter is in the Hollywood, LA, USA. In October 2009, the site consists of over 11 million members, 100 millions submissions, 100.000 submissions per day, and 36 million visitors in 2008. deviantART aims to provid a place for any artist to discuss their works. The works are organized in catagories including photography, digital art, traditional art, literature, flash, filmmaking, skins, and others, along with downloadable resources such as tutorials and stock photography. There are also a lot of competitions held by the artist in several events such as Christmas, Chinese New Year, and etc.
